who can volunteer?

If you're studying or have work experience in a field related to nursing, medicine, allied healthcare, public health, biomedicine or science, the Peru Health Promotion Challenge is perfect for you! 

 

what you'll be doing

You will be volunteering with local community members in the Sacred Valley including school children, teachers and parents to deliver health workshops focusing on essential health and wellbeing topics like basic first-aid, hygiene and sanitation, human anatomy and bodily function, diet and nutrition, mental health, girls and women’s health and non-communicable diseases. These workshops will play a big role in increasing the overall health of the community, as locals will receive the knowledge they need to keep themselves and their families healthy.

 

weekly structure

Following an induction and orientation when you arrive, your volunteering days will be Monday-Friday with the weekend free to do your own travel. We recommend heading to UNESCO World Heritage city Cusco and making a trip to the infamous Rainbow Mountain! 

 

visit Machu Picchu!

After your volunteer program you can join our optional extension trip for $800 and embark on the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu, a truly once in a lifetime experience! On this 5-day trek you'll walk more than 70km and reach an altitude of 4600m above sea level as you make your way to South America's most famous landmark. You'll see Humantay Lake, cross Salkantay Mountain and pass through cloud forests before reaching Machu Picchu for that bucket list moment at the end of your trip!
