Where you'll be based

Joining a Challenges Abroad program in Thailand is the opportunity to see a more authentic side to the country, away from popular tourist areas. You’ll be based at our hub in the stunning town of Mae Sariang a rural town surrounded by temples, rice patty fields and incredible mountain views. Just 4 hours from Chiang Mai, you'll have plenty of time to get your street food fix, fill your camera roll with some incredible sites like the Chiang Mai Canyon and Doi Suthep Mountain, and maybe even tick a sustainable elephant experience off your bucket list.

The Hill Tribes

Nestled in the scenic mountains are one of Thailand's hidden gems, the Hill Tribes. These unique communities offer a glimpse into traditional lifestyles, vibrant customs, and artisanal crafts. Visiting the hill tribes on one of our programs not only provides an immersive experience where you can learn about their distinct cultures and traditions, but it also provides you with an opportunity to help impact access to vital services such as healthcare and education.
