Most instagrammable spots in Nepal

Nepal is a magical place, filled with culture, beauty and so many places to see. So, we wanted to narrow down some of the most Insta worthy places that you should check out! 

Sometimes referred to as “the roof of the world,” did you know that Nepal is the highest country on Earth? So, let’s start at the top: 

Poon Hill 

Poon Hill is a hill station that overlooks the Dhaulagiri Mountain range in the Gandaki Province of Nepal. This is the focal viewpoint on the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. The views here are some of the most breathtaking you’ll ever experience. You’ll get panoramic views of some of the Himalayan mountains, and if you wake up early enough, you’ll catch the sunrise light up the mountains.

Selfie stone 

Located near our hub, the selfie stone is one of the most spectacular features of Dhulikhel. The stone is on a hilltop, near the Kali temple, via 1000 steps of stairs. It is a very pleasant walk with wonderful views all the way to the top.  

But, the best part about the perfectly angled stone is if you position your camera in the right spot, you can give your followers the illusion that you are hanging off the stone from a scary height. The perfect picture to get you some attention on Instagram (“P.S. don’t worry Mum & Dad, I’m safe!")
 

Swayambhunath Stupa  

Due to the tongue twister name, visitors have called this place the ‘Monkey Temple’ since the 1970s and it is one of the most spectacular stupas in Kathmandu. The ancient complex consists of a stupa (a mound-like structure containing relics that is used as a place of meditation), a variety of shrines and temples which date back to hundreds of years ago.  

This complex is at the top of a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of the city, giving visitors 360-degree views of the city. Not to mention the stupa is made up of amazing colours and prayer flags. This place is definitely worth your while if you’re looking to show off your time in Nepal on the gram.  
 

Durbar Square 

One of the most Instagrammable places to visit in Kathmandu is Dubar Square. It is one of three squares within Kathmandu Valley and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are so many areas for a perfect photo opportunity. Surrounded by fountains and small ponds, ancient statues and a series of courtyards, you’ll have several beautiful backdrops to snap a pic with your friends.  

Thamel 

If you’re looking to capture the best of Nepal, you’ll want to check out Thamel. Known as the tourist hotspot of Kathmandu, Thamel is booming with noise and colours, the area both pleasing to the ears and eyes.  

The main street has a range of restaurants, hiking stores, street vendors and souvenir shops. Over on Mandala street, it is overflowing with fairy lights, cafes and bookstore. This is the perfect place to snap some pics to make all your friends at home jealous..  

Nepal isn’t lacking in wonderful places to show off to your friends and family back home. The country is very unique, offering peaceful surroundings of nature as well as the hustle and bustle of the city. So, if you travel to Nepal, be sure to check out these most Instagrammable places.
