PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Across Thailand and especially in the hill tribe areas, climate change and environmental instability is becoming more apparent each year as seasonal disasters grow in severity: floods and destructive landslides in the wet season, drought and extreme fires in the dry season. These natural disasters are not only damaging for infrastructure, but also for people's health and livelihoods.

How You Can Help

Our charity the FutureSense Foundation is working year round with the local community to develop and implement programs that address climate and issues. As an environment intern, you will be assisting this work. Some of the projects you could be involved in include:

  • Conducting research to understand the complex environmental issues in the local area.

  • Designing environmental interventions based on your research.

  • Developing workshops and education packs to teach school children and community members about environmental issues and how to address these.

  • Running environmental education workshops at local schools and in the broader community.

Internship Structure

When you arrive in Thailand you’ll be met by our team at the airport. Over the next few days you’ll have a thorough induction and orientation where you’ll learn about Thai customs and culture, get your bearings around town, meet community partners and gain a better understanding of the context of the projects you’re working on.

For the rest of your internship you'll work with FutureSense Monday - Friday and the weekend will be free to do your own travelling. You will be primarily based in Mae Sariang, but may also spend some time in the remote hill tribe villages we work with. In the final week of your internship you will give a presentation to the FutureSense team and local community members of the projects you've been working on.

On the last day, you’ll either be transported back to the airport or you can continue on with your on travel.
