PROGRAM OVERVIEW

On this program you will be immersed into Cambodian culture and understand the development issues currently facing the local community. This is an amazing opportunity to share your passion for Climate Action and Environmental Sustainability by applying your skills and knowledge to develop and deliver workshops that seek to raise awareness of key environmental issues.

How you can help

On the Cambodia Sustainability Challenge you will be helping us drive forward our long-term education goals within the local community by designing and delivering interactive workshops that seek to raise awareness on key environmental issue. You will deliver your workshops to local students at a supplementary education centre or government school.

During this program you will also participate in activities such as tree panting to help offset the air pollution and carbon emissions generated by your travel.

Program structure

When you arrive in Cambodia you’ll be met by our team at the airport. Over the next few days you’ll have a thorough induction and orientation where you’ll learn about Khmer culture and history, get your bearings around town, meet community partners and gain a better understanding of the context of the projects you’re working on.

Over two weeks, you will be engaging with the community Monday-Friday, with the weekend free to do your own travel and exploring. Your day will usually be structured with a morning session (approx. 3 hours) after breakfast and then a session of the same length after lunch. Your afternoons and evenings will be free for you to relax and explore Battambang or do any required preparation for the next day.

On the last day, you’ll either be transported back to the airport in Siem Reap or you can join our extension trip overland tour of Cambodia!

Extend your trip

After your program you can join our optional extension trip for $900, where you’ll spend a week touring some of Cambodia’s most beautiful natural landscapes and important cultural sites! Your journey starts in Phnom Penh where you'll explore Toul Sleng, the Killing Fields and the Royal Palace. Next you'll head to Sen Monorom where you'll trek across stunning Cambodian scenery and spend the night in a homestay at a local hill tribe village. Finally you'll head to Kratie for a Mekong river boat trip and a chance to see Irrawaddy dolphins!
